Safe Sanctuary

Safe Sanctuary is a movement in the United Methodist Church to protect children, youth, and vulnerable adults and the adults that work with them.  All of our volunteers must complete Safe Sanctuary training before they are permitted to work with children, youth, or vulnerable adults. Click here to learn more about Safe Sanctuary.

Prayer Ministry

Asbury has faithful volunteers who coordinate the prayer list, and who meet weekly to lift up all of the prayers we receive.  Prayer requests can be placed in the pocket of the prayer banners on Sundays in both Fellowship Hall and the Narthex.  You may also call to church office to request prayer.  Contact the church office, 410-749-2131 or EMAIL Karen@asburyweb.org.

LIGHT (Living in Grief, Healing Together)

Children and teens grieve too, and they do not distinguish between the grief from the loss of a loved one due to death, divorce or separation, deployment, incarceration, etc. It’s important for them to know that they are not alone in their feelings. Asbury is pleased to offer support meetings for grieving children and youth in our community based on the international program Rainbows for All Children. A 6-week session will be held Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m., beginning on January 9. LIGHT is for children in grades K-12. Brochures are available in both welcome centers. Contact Heather at heather@asburyweb.org for more information or to register.

Blankets and Cards

We are delighted to have creative volunteers who make fleece blankets and beautiful cards to be used to care for people in our congregation.  Any member who is hospitalized receives a blanket, and the cards are used by everyone on staff to send thank you, birthday greetings, and other special notes to the Asbury family.

Ala Carte Meals

Our Ala Carte Meal volunteers prepare and deliver meals to Asburians’ after a hospital stay (including the birth of a child or an extended illness) or death in the family. It is a small but very important ministry that lets our members know that we care.
