Friendsgiving ‘24
Darlene Wade
Director of Youth and Family Ministries
Darlene has a passion for sharing her faith with children and youth. It began when her oldest daughter began attending church. She wanted to ensure her daughter would be as excited as she was about growing in faith so she began her journey as leader of children and youth ministry. God also called her to write a Christian Children's book. She is happily married to her husband Dean for the last 32 years. They have been blessed with 3 children Jessica, Gabby, and Jon and 2 son in laws Rob and Ryan. Since her daughters have left the nest, she spends most of her time snuggling with her 2 dogs Rudy and Moose while her son Jon plays video games in his room with his friends :).
She loves to spend time at the beach and loves the sound of the ocean and the feel of the sun shining on her face.
Our Mission
Here at Asbury, we provide all youth the opportunity to form a personal relationship with God by offering programs designed to support their spiritual journey, personal growth, and care for their community. We help them look for ways to connect the scripture readings to their everyday lives. This helps them to love their neighbor like Jesus taught, which offers the opportunity for their faith and works to bring God’s kingdom to earth.

Safe Sanctuary
Safe Sanctuary is a movement in the United Methodist Church to ensure that all children/youth/vulnerable adults and the adults who care for them and work with them are safe.
This program has been in effect at Asbury since December 31, 2009. The guidelines follow the suggestions found in the resource “Safe Sanctuaries for Youth: Reducing the Risk of Abuse in Youth Ministries” by attorney Joy Thornburg Melton. This resource is used by The United Methodist Church in its Safe Sanctuaries training.
