Brooke Christensen (she/her)

Director of Youth and Family Ministries

I joined Asbury’s ministry team in November of 2020, but having grown up at Asbury, it was more like a homecoming than starting a new job. Creating safe and brave spaces for youth to belong has always been a passion of mine. My background in music, business, youth ministry, and now a Masters of Divinity have all prepared me for this part of my journey.

My weekly emails are probably the best way to stay on top of all our events. contact brooke@asburyweb.org to get added to the list!

Our Mission

Here at Asbury, our youth have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of activities designed to support their spiritual education, personal growth, and care for their community. It is important that we not only teach our youth how to look up and memorize Bible verses, but we also teach them how to apply what they have learned and inspire them to use their unique gifts and talents to help build God’s kingdom here on Earth.

Sunday School

Asbury has a dedicated Sunday School hour at 10am on Sunday mornings during the school year. We strive to help students experience the love and grace of God through fellowship and study of the Scriptures. We dig into the Bible and look for ways to apply what we learn to our lives outside the church building. Discovering the love of Christ, growing in grace, and discerning God’s call on our lives are all goals of this important ministry.

Safe Sanctuary

Safe Sanctuary is a movement in the United Methodist Church to ensure that all children/youth/vulnerable adults and the adults who care for them and work with them are safe.

This program has been in effect at Asbury since December 31, 2009. The guidelines follow the suggestions found in the resource “Safe Sanctuaries for Youth: Reducing the Risk of Abuse in Youth Ministries” by attorney Joy Thornburg Melton. This resource is used by The United Methodist Church in its Safe Sanctuaries training.
